LAHORE: The Young Nurses Association (YNA) has warned the government that if their demands would not be accepted within 48 hours, the association would go on hunger strike in the provincial capital as well as across the province.
YNA members on Wednesday continued to protest at The Mall in front of Punjab Assembly for the third consecutive day, hampering the flow of traffic and creating the nuisance for the commuters.
YNA is protesting for their longstanding demands of appraisal in salaries, reforms in service structure and provision of health risk allowance. No one from the government approached the protesting paramedics to hear their grievances. The nurses on the occasion vowed to continue their protest until the fulfillment of their demands.
YNA also boycotted their indoor and outdoor duties of public hospitals, which severely affected service delivery in the hospitals. Nurses’ strike also caused postponement of several minor elective surgeries in public hospitals of Lahore.
