LAHORE: Famous young Pakistani television and theatre actor Nirvaan Nadeem is going to direct his very first theatre play ‘Tilismati Tota’. He is the son of an award-winning Pakistani journalist, playwright, screenwriter, theatre and television director and a human rights activist Shahid Mahmood Nadeem and Pakistani actress, playwright, social theatre director, and women’s rights activist Madeeha Gauhar.
In the interview Nirvaan Nadeem told Daily Times that, the main focus of this play is on revolution, greed of power, social change and rights of women.
‘Tilismati Tota’ is an interesting tale of three princesses who set off to search a magical parrot that is known to grant whatever wish you have and on their way they find a mysterious Prince. They all keep going through all the hurdles in their way until they finally find the magical parrot.
The story and screen play is written by Shahid Nadeem and Madeeha Gauhar and will be performed soon in the Ajoka theatre.
Ajoka is a Pakistani not-for-profit arts organization based in Lahore, Punjab, with focus on creating and performing social theatrical stage productions, founded in 1984. The Ajoka performing group was formed by Madeeha Gauhar and actor Salman Shahid during the state of recession and emergency under the rule of General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq.
Ajoka Theatre received the prestigious Prince Claus Award in 2006 and the International Theatre Pasta Award in 2007. The organization has been fighting for human rights and particularly women rights for more than 30 years now. The people of Ajoka have been struggling to bring a change in society and implement human rights in this critical time when women are killed or burnt with acid for standing against their rights.
Nirvaan was born in a family with a background history of performing arts. He grew in an environment full of colours, dance, music, acting and art which is his inspiration to be what he is today.
The alluring actor told Daily Times that, ‘My fans are my energy and I am afraid to let down my fans because I feel I have let myself down’. He added, ‘My message to everyone out there is that we should spread love and let everyone live’.
He also directed a hit music video a while ago. A number of Nirvaan’s television drama serials are on air these days including highly watched and appreciated ‘Anabia’, ‘Taan’, ‘Baba Ki Raani’ and more.
