Current expenditure estimated at Rs 3.844tr

ISLAMABAD: The estimate of the current expenditure would be Rs 3.844 trillion in the next financial year 2016-17 with the increase of Rs 400 billion as compared to Rs 3.483 trillion in 2015-16 during current fiscal year.

The estimates of current expenditure were Rs 3482.239 billion in 2015-16 but it reached to Rs 3599.858 billion.

According to the budget documents Rs 1360 billion were kept for the payment of interests on debts, whereas during current fiscal year the amount was Rs 179.895 billion. The estimates of payment of interest on local debts would be Rs 1247 billion in the next financial year while it was Rs 1168.676 billion in 2015-16.

The estimates of payment of interest on foreign debts would be 113 billion in 2016-17, which was Rs 111.219 billion in 2015-16. Rs 443.807 billion are kept for the repayment of debts in next financial year 2016-17. For the payment of pension to the retired government employees Rs 245 billion are earmarked whereas it was Rs 241 billion. In the estimate the share of the civilian pensioner would be Rs 67.414 billion while an amount of Rs Rs 177.586 billion has been reserved for the armed forces’ pensioner in the next fiscal year. The amount was Rs 174.271 billion in 2015-16. The expenditures for the Defence Affairs and Services would be Rs 860.169 billion with the addition of Rs 79 billion. The grants and transfers would take Rs 441.616 billion as it were Rs 32 billion less in the fiscal year 2015-16 than the financial year 2016-17. The provincial grants would be Rs 40 billion with the enhancement of Rs 2 billion, while the other grants would be Rs 401.616 billion instead of current year’s estimates of Rs 371.575 billion.

The estimates of subsidies would be Rs 140.600 billion with the increase of Rs 3 billion. Some Rs 352.794 billion has been earmarked for the expenditures of civil government with the increase of Rs 26 billion as compared to current fiscal year.

The payment of pay and allowances to government servants would take Rs 198.276 billion in the upcoming financial year, which is going to start from 1stJuly. The amount in the salary head was kept Rs 193.850 billion in 2015-16. The expenditure of non salary would be Rs 151.018 billion in the next financial year whereas the amount of Rs 129.481 billion in the head was kept in current fiscal year.
