KARACHI: Most Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) of various banks remained out of order or cash since Friday, and as late as Monday, in the city.

A number of consumers and account holders of various banks operating in Pakistan faced difficulties in withdrawing cash, with ATMs unable to perform their designated functions with Ramadan beginning today.

Account holders told Daily Times that they had registered complaints at their respective branches most bank branches were unhelpful, with Ramadan’s Zakat deductions a major reason for the problem. Several banks routinely shutdown their ATMs after load shedding or failures of electricity for hours in order to save electricity.

Daily Times also observed the same situation regarding the ATM shutdown at remote and far flung areas of Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Bin Qasim, Malir, Qaidabad, Landhi, Kalaboard and various locations on the occasion.
