Imran asks ‘rebel’ MNAs to submit ‘corruption’ proofs against Khattaka

Author: By Ejaz Khan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman (PTI) Imran Khan has sought proof of corruption against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minster Pervaiz Khattak from the dissenting MNAs of his party.

If they provide the proof, then the resignation from the CM will be demanded.

Reliable sources in the PTI told Daily Times that Khan asked the MNAs such as Junaid Akbar, Khayal Zaman, Ameerullah Marwat, Sajid Nawaz and Dawar Kundi to bring the evidence, if they had any, of Khattak’s involvement in corruption.

If they have evidence, they should present it to the leadership of the party. A committee would be constituted to analyse the evidence and the committee would present its report within 15 days. If he is proven guilty, he would be awarded stringent punishment.

After consultations with his close aides, Khan has decided to remove Khattak as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister if corruption charges against him are proven. Khan wanted to convey a clear message to the federal government that if the PTI could oust its chief minister, it would never compromise on the issue of Panama leaks.

When the PTI chairman tried to get information about the closure of the provincial accountability office allegedly on the orders of the chief minister, he was not given any proof of this. However he found some clues that the bureau was dormant.

The top leadership of the PTI has devised a plan to meet each and every MPA separately to get their opinion about the performance of the KP government. After removing the flaws in the provincial government, the PTI would take part in the next general elections.

The sources said that Khan showed his commitment at party meetings that he would go to any extent to eradicate corruption.

Five PTI MNAs have raised the voice against Khatttak’s alleged corruption. They said that they were in touch with some MPAs, who had solid evidence of Khattak’s involvement in corruption.

They said they would launch a drive against Khattak in case the leadership of the party does not take any action.

The sources told this reporter that Khan was considering an investigation into the alleged misuse of funds by the chief minister through his own people. In this connection, the decision will be taken after Eid.
