ISLAMABAD: Even after passage of five days, the Ministry of Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) has failed to resolve the alleged stolen case of a newborn baby from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

The family of the stolen baby has decided to stage a demonstration in front of National Press Club (today) Wednesday.

PIMS Vice Chancellor Dr Javed Ikram while talking to Daily Times said that there was an error in the ultrasound report which was told to the parents and they expressed satisfaction over the report.

However, Muhammad Farooq, father of the newborn baby, rebuked the PIMS vice chancellor, saying “We had an ultrasound done at a private clinic, according to which my wife was having twin babies. We also visited the Federal Government Hospital (FGH) where the ultrasound report showed the twin babies.”

He said, “Before the delivery, doctors at the FGH said both the babies were weak and advised us to go to PIMS to avoid complications as the hospital was better equipped to deal with similar situations. The ultrasound at PIMS also showed two boys.”

“We cannot accept this. We know our twin babies were stolen and we were given someone else’s daughter,” he said.

Meanwhile, PIMS’ Mother Child Hospital (MCH) head Professor Dr Batool told the Daily Times that family had just one baby as there was an error in ultrasound report.” When contacted, CADD Secretary Hasan Iqbal said, “We would investigate the whole matter and I had sought a report from the PIMS VC in this regard.”

He said, “Once he [PIMS VC] files the report, the CADD ministry will take action against the persons involved in the case.
