Villagers catch blind dolphin in Larkana

LARKANA: A rare River Indus Blind Dolphin was caught by villagers from Wasand drain (Shaakh) near Banguldero, on Thursday. The villagers of Suhib Ji Wandh village including Gada Hussain Junejo, Zamir Hussain Junejo, Abdul Ghafoor Junejo said that they spotted the dolphin in the morning which was swimming in a drain which is narrow adding it was running from one side to side which is what got our attention. They said that they immediately jumped into the drain and captured it fearing that somebody else who is unaware of its importance may harm this rare animal which has become our identity. They further said that they have informed the Wildlife Department officials but they have not so far reached the spot to take possession of this unique animal so that it could remain alive and be saved. They said that they have kept it in a water pond for the time being. Abdul Nabi Bhutto said that Wildlife Department authorities have contacted him and told him that they will soon be reaching the village to take custody of the dolphin which then will be left in the Indus River. Till filing of this news they had not arrived at the spot to get the possession of the rare mammal.
