KARACHI: Inspector General of police Sindh on Thursday has order to probe into the allegations of fake encounter by Kotari police after a protest on Wednesday but the family of Bilal Hingoro had been waiting for the response from Sindh Government and Sindh police after eight days of the incident and in-spite of several protests.
“We have closed the chapter now because one thing we understood that here we can not have justice, how many youngsters have been killed in fake encounters but their families could not find justice” elder brother of deceased Bilal Hingoro told Daily Times.
It is pertinent to mention that last week on Wednesday Lyari Town police claimed to have conducted an operation in Chakiwara area of Lyari, during which police claimed to have killed a alleged gang war accused. After the encounter police of PS Chakiwara claimed that suspect who was identified as Bilal Hingoro opened fire at police but gang war operative was killed in retaliation from police. Police claimed that the deceased was member of Lyari gang war’s Ghaffar Zikri group.
Brother of Bilal Hingoro said that when they received the information that Bilal was shot down by police in an encounter they were shocked because three days before the incident Bilal was arrested by police in a raid from his home, “we received his body and saw that there were several marks of torture visible”.
He further said that Bilal was working at Karachi Port as a crane operator and was youngest brother, “he had never has been involved in criminal activities”, he added.
After the burial of Bilal the family went on protesting against Chakiwara police but after no response from there the family and other relatives from Hingoro community and Kachi community gathered in large numbers and in the shape of a rally and they marched towards Krachi Press Club on Monday where they again staged protest and appealed to IGP and Home Minister to take action against the involved police officials by conducting enquiry.
“We have still not received response from any official from police or provincial government, our mother is very grieved she often becomes senseless and fainted, we are worried about her health that’s why now we have decided to stop the protest and be silent because we can not lose our mother after our brother” he concluded. When contacted PS Chakiwara by Daily Times, no response was found from there.
