ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Railways, Khawaja Saad Rafique, has said that Pakistan railway land records would be fully computerised in days to come with the help from information technology department and other related institutions. While talking to a private news channel, railway Minister noted that his first and foremost objective was to get rid of losses worth billions of rupees and to make Pakistan Railways a profitable institution. He urged that no stone would be left unturned to achieve objectives. Rafique further said that the ministry had increased its revenue generation up to 36 billion during the last three fiscal years.
The Ministry had also introduced E-ticketing for the convenience of the public, which would now enable the citizens to get their tickets booked from their homes. The government had reached an agreement with the United Bank Limited (UBL) in this regard, he added. Life insurance of all passengers and the staff of the ministry was also to be ensured. The government was also planning to improve 31 different railway stations, he informed.
