LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the main opposition party in the Punjab Assembly, has filed a condemnation resolution against Federal Minister Khawaja Asif over his derogatory statement about female parliamentarian Dr Shireern Mazari.

The condemnation resolution was filed by PTI legislator Sadia Sohail Rana in the notice branch of the Punjab Assembly Secretariat and was forwarded to the speaker’s office on Friday.

In the resolution, the female legislator has demanded Federal Minister Khawaja Asif to apologize to the nation over his derogatory words against his colleague Dr Shireen Mazari, as such words were an insult to all the women of the country.

It is pertinent to mention that Khawaja Asif two days ago, while delivering his speech on the floor of the National Assembly, teased Dr Shireen Mazari by calling her ‘tractor-trolley’ when she tried to interrupt him. Later, Khawaja Asif apologized on his act unconditionally but Dr Shireen Mazari did not forgive him.

The PTI legislator said in the resolution that Kh Asif was habitual to insulting females, as he had used disrespectful words about females several times in the past, which shows his mental approach towards woman.

Sadia Sohail Rana also alleged in the resolution that as a custodian of the National Assembly, it was the duty of Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq to take strict action against Kh Asif but he played a biased role on the matter.

In the resolution, it is also stated that the Punjab Assembly condemned the insulting attitude of the federal minister and urged him to tender his request for forgiveness from the nation over his frantic behaviour.
