Provinces asked to beef up security

ISLAMABAD: On the report of law enforcement agencies the interior ministry has informed all the provinces particularly KP about the threats from terrorists to key security installations, main bus terminals and shopping centres. Directives have also been issued to provincial authorities for beefing up security in their respective provinces.

Well placed sources said that the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has threatened to target key security installations, busy bus terminals and shopping centres in Peshawar, Lahore, Islamabad and other major cities. The interior ministry has informed the KP government about these threats with directions to tighten security .

According to reports, terrorists have planned to target important security installations in Peshawar and other major cities. The terrorists are all set to hit their targets.

Sources said 10 terrorists had been trained and sent to conduct terror attacks in Peshawar and other major cities. Security agencies have stepped up security at bus terminals , shopping centres and recreational points in Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore and other major cities of KP after having received threats from the militants.

Reports said that threats had been received for targeting the leading private bus service in the country. Therefore, the security agencies have issued directives to this reputed bus company to beef up security at its bus terminals besides conducting search of the luggage of the commuters and monitoring the cafes, tuck shops and hotels located at the bus stops.

Security agencies have provided their assistance as well. The commuters have also been warned against the terror attacks and have been asked to remain highly vigilant and cautious.

Stringent security arrangements had been put in place in Friday prayer congregations, Taraveeh prayers and shopping centres.
