PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf intra-party election commissioner for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rustam Shah Mohmand has stressed his party women members to respect decisions made by the women wing care-taker setup.

The move came as senior female members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged a protest at the provincial secretariat against PTI MNA Nafeesa Khattak and MPA Noreen Ibraheem for interfering in the women wing affairs without holding any office.

The protest compelled Rustam Shah Mohmand to caution the two women and told them to respect caretaker setup of the women wing. The women wing office bearers had also accused both members for allotting fake designations to their blue-eyed workers against the spirit of the party constitution.

The provincial election commissioner on Saturday held a meeting with members of KP women wing including the provincial president Naseema Hayat, Asia Khattak, Kalsoom Kundi, Zareen Zia and Noreen Ibraheem to resolve all issues of the wing and present a proposal recommendation before the party chairman.

The sources claimed that Rustam Shah issued strict instructions to Noreen Ibraheem who allegedly called herself president of women wing KP during the meeting, to follow the party constitution with strict manner and keep aloof from dictating, appointing and creating split among the wing and workers.

It was also learnt that Imran Khan had given Rustam Shah the task to to resolve the issue among the women wing and prepare comprehensive recommendation proposal for further strategy in this regard. The provincial election commissioner also called on MNA Nafessa Khattak to play a positive role in uniting the party’s women wing in the province.

Requesting anonymity senior members of the KP wing told Daily Times that Nafessa Khattak and Noreen Ibraheem held a separate meeting with Rustam Shah at the party’s provincial secretariat to pledge their extended support for the welfare of workers and honoring the senior members’ decisions. The members also said that both women faced severe criticism after women wing protested in the provincial secretariat against them.

Later on a proposal of recommendation prepared by Rustam Shah Mohmand after meetings with the women wing, and Nafessa Khattak and Noreen Ibraheem; was sent to party chairman Imran Khan for final decision and future strategy regarding the provincial women wing.

The sources added that during the meeting, Rustam Shah Mohmand told the participants that the strife among the women wing was making the party suffer in the province and Fata. He also pressed the members for unity among them as the PTI intended to launch a strong anti-government campaign regarding Panama leaks after this Eidul-Fitar.
