Five killed, 22 injured due to collision between coach and truck in Hub

QUETTA: At least five people have been killed and 22 others among them women and children have been injured in a collision between a Karachi-bound passenger coach and a Mazda truck on national highway in Hub area of Lasbela district, here Tuesday.

The police said a passenger coach carrying commuters was on way from Quetta to Karachi when it collided with a Mazda truck on national highway in Hub area of Lasbela district as the driver of the bus tried to overtake the truck, resulting in death of five people and injuring of 22 others.

“Five persons have been killed and 22 others including women and children injured in the road accident,” they said. The police said that the five dead and nine injured were aboard the truck while 13 other injured were passengers of the coach.

The condition of the injured who were riding truck was very critical. The rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the dead and injured to Civil Hospital Hub. Later, some of the injured were referred to Karachi due to their critical condition. “Some of the injured are in serious condition,” doctors said.

The Hub police have been investigating into the incident. Further probe was underway.
