A local court in Lahore on Wednesday extended the physical remand of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Mian Javed Latif for four more days in a case pertaining to alleged anti-state remarks.

Police produced the PML-N leader before the court amid tight security on completion of his previous two-day physical remand.

The security was tight as the police blocked the entry and exit points of the Model Town court placing barricades on all the roads towards the local court.

The PML-N lawmaker said he wanted to ask what his mistake was and there should be a talk on the conditions when the country was split. “This is a country of few powerful men and there is a need to look in our own ranks,” he added.

Javed Latif alleged that people of Punjab are being labelled as traitors.

Earlier, a Duty Judicial Magistrate of Model Town Court on Monday extended the physical remand of Javed Latif for two more days.

The PML-N lawmaker himself presented his arguments, saying everyone would have been happy if he had remained silent at the country’s “loss”.

In April, police took the PML-N MNA into custody after a session court dismissed his bail application in the case pertaining to allegedly defaming state institutions.
