Ramazan, the beautiful month of blessings has always been special and people have always been immensely enthusiastic about it but when we compare the month spent back in our childhood to that spent nowadays, we get to know that a lot is missing.

1. Waking up in the warm bed from the sound of a quali ringing in your ears, the cold morning of winter forced you to stay inside your bed and watch PTV as there were no live Ramazan transmissions back then. And we didn’t have to watch Amir Liaquat clothed in an “Angel” costume and float around the studios.

2. The melodious Qaseeda Burda Shareef that used to be kids’ favourite because it was always a pleasant sight watching kids of the same age holding candles in hand. The mellifluous voice of Qari was always a treat to listen to.

3. The cool breeze of the night, the solace and the warmth of the steamy kitchen would always make us admire the blessings of the month.

4. The man who used to come regularly to wake up people for Sehris, and made sure he did wake everyone up, might not be a match for an alarm clock used nowadays.

5. Starting the day with recitation of the Holy Quran, people would start their daily routines and they didn’t have worries of getting late for Unique ki bike Qmobile ka phone

6. The credits given to people who accompanied Mufti Muneeb during the moon sighting. (Pun intended)

7. Helping people without having to put a show of it on a TV channel for the sake of ratings.

8. No advertisements for Zakat would pop up on your TV box every now and then.

9. There was no Maya Khan, starving for ratings, stealing the content of other TV shows and shedding tears of glycerin.

10. You actually spent your time praying, with no scorching heat to worry about and no thirst. All you cared was about staying warm and looking forward to a yummy Iftari.

11. There was no JJ lawn to make women jump to their feet in an instant.

12. And finally, Amir Liaquat and Fahad Mustafa were not there to ask Musalmano tukka lagao! The Tariq Aziz Show was comparatively a much better quality show for families back then.
