ISLAMABAD: The loss-causing entity Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has appointed an ordinary clerk, Kashif Saif, as its Deputy Station Manager Heathrow Airport London as a reward for giving special protocol to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharf and his family.

According to available documents with Daily Times the PIA administration has promoted (C-4) Senior Supervisor Kashif Saif to the post of (D-6) Deputy Station manager Heathrow Airport by violating all rules and regulations.

The employees of PIA have expressed grave concern over this development and they have also written a letter to the Chairman PIA in this regard.

Traffic Assistant, Kashif Saif joined PIA in 2004 at the cargo division in London. He was initially assigned to various duties of cargo sales and services in the cargo office and later in 2009 he was transferred to the PHS Department.

During the years 2009-10, three senior officers retired from the PHS Department and eventually Kashif Saif took the whole affairs in his hand. Furthermore he was also supervising the matters of VVIP movement from Pakistan at Heathrow and Luton Airports as well.

A source told this scribe that Kashif Saif gave a special protocol to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family due to which he became a blue eyed persone of the Sharif family. His appointment has been made for giving full protocol to the PM’s family by going beyond his powers and officers having 26 years experience in PIA are bound to work under him.

It is pertinent to mention here that due to political appointments in PIA, the profit making airline sank and incurred losses. The government after coming into power announced the privatisation of PIA, but the proposal was harshly opposed by the employees of the airlines .

The employees after surety from the government to protect their rights , agreed to convert PIA into a limited public company and the government got a bill approved in a joint session of the parliament.
