PARIS: UEFA opened disciplinary proceedings against Albania and Romania on Monday following incidents during Sunday’s Group A match at Euro 2016 in Lyon. Romania face charges after fans set off fireworks and threw objects, with Albania accused of similar offences in addition to allowing a pitch invasion. Eight of the 24 participating teams in France are the subject of UEFA disciplinary probes. European football’s governing body has already said Russia will be kicked out of the tournament if their fans cause more trouble inside a stadium. UEFA has also started proceedings against Croatia, Turkey, Hungary, Belgium and Portugal. Albania won Sunday’s game 1-0 to keep alive their slim hopes of advancing to the last 16, but defeat for Romania saw them eliminated.
