LAHORE: Pakistan junior badminton player Danyyaal Ali’s unbeaten run in the International Under-17 Badminton Championship was finally halted by Bulgarian Liyan Stoynov in the final on Monday in Serbia. According to a spokesman for the Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF), Liyon defeated Danyyaal 25-23, 21-17 in a close contest. The young Pakistani player put up a dazzling show before going down in the closing moments of the play. He seemed out of concentration and lost precious points after putting up a resolute fight in the both sessions of the play. Before taking part in the Serbia event, he won the boys’ single title in Adria Under-17 International Badminton Championship held in Croatia. Both the events are Badminton World Federation’s recognized tournaments. “The Pakistan Badminton Federation aims to send its players abroad on regular basis to give them international exposure,” added the spokesman. The PBF has fielded an Under-19 squad in the SCG Badminton Asia Junior Championships to be held in Bangkok, Thailand from July 9 to 17. “Ms Mahoor Shahzad, a young top badminton player, has been selected by the Pakistan Olympic Association to participate in 4th Youth Camp of Chinese Olympic Committee to be held in Guangzhou, China from November 27 to December 3,” said the PBF spokesman.
