ISLAMABAD: The members of a Senate standing committee burst into laughter on Tuesday when Senate Standing Committee on Religious Affairs Chairman Hafiz Hamdullah said that Qandeel Baloch should be made a member of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Senator Hamdullah, who represents the JUI-F in the Senate, made a jibe at Mufti Abdul Qavi when his photos with model Qandeel Baloch went viral on the social media. If clerics like Qavi who make selfies with models can become members of the committee, he said, Baloch could also be given membership of the committee. In response to Senator Hamdullah’s remarks, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Yousuf said the government would make her a member of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee “if you recommend” her.
