The Chairman of Burney Trust, Ansar Burney, and Head of Communist Party Mrs. Najma on Friday said that as many as 150 Pakistani fishermen languishing in Indian jails are confronting a host of problems.

Accompanied by their members, Burney and Nahma expressed these views while holding a press conference at Thatta press club, and showed their resentment over the miserable plight of Pakistani fishermen.

Speaking to the media, Ansar Burney said that Pakistani and Indian governments should release fishermen in a goodwill gesture to spread the message of peace and harmony across the world. He further said that as many as 150 fishermen hailing from Jati, Shahbunder, Chuhar Jamali, and Ketibunder areas were in Indian jails confronting a host of problems.

Mrs. Najma claimed that ill-treatment was being meted out to Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails, and noted that it was a flagrant violation of International treaties. She further said that, Mahi Rani, lost her eyesight sobbing for her son Yousuf, who had been in Indian Jails for the last 10 years.

In their meeting with the office-bearers of the Thatta Press club, they vowed to work for the up-liftment and the progress of fishermen and their families. They said that the fishermen community in Pakistan also had equal rights like other citizens of the country, and they deserve to have all the basic amenities of life.
