PESHAWAR: A division bench of the Peshawar High Court on Wednesday summoned the Health Department Secretary to appear before the court in person. The PHC bench, consisting of Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth and Justice Qaiser Rasheed was hearing a petition filed by a social mobiliser of Mother Newborn and Child Health programme, said Qaiser Jamal. Sahibzada Asadullah, the counsel of the petitioner, informed the bench that the petitioner had not been paid his salary for six years.
The petitioner’s lawyer argued that PHC in earlier verdict had ordered the authority to pay his salary and regularise his service but the verdict was yet to be implemented. He maintained that the irresponsive manner of the health department following the court’s orders was tantamount to contempt of court. After hearing the arguments, the bench ordered the secretary health department to appear before the bench.
