KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah Wednesday said that law and order situation in the provincial capital was being “sabotaged under a pre-planned conspiracy”.

“I would not allow this conspiracy to succeed and the conspirators and terrorists would be crushed with iron hands,” he said.

The law and order situation in the city got worsened on Wednesday when a prominent singer Amjad Sabri was gunned down along with his two friends in the city.

Earlier, Owais Ali Shah, son of Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice, was kidnapped from the courtyard of Super Market on Monday. Police and family are still clueless even after passage of two days.

The chief minister was attending the budget session in the Sindh Assembly when he was told about the killing of Amjad Sabri and his two friends. The chief minister left the session immediately and went to his chamber where he contacted Ranger Director General Major General Bilal Akbar and Sindh Police Inspector General (IG) AD Khawaja and issued them directives to arrest the culprits.

“Within three days another serious incident has taken place. This is very serious and cannot be tolerated. It seems that law and order in Karachi is being deteriorated under a planned conspiracy,” said the chief minister while talking to the Sindh IG.

The chief minister also announced a Rs 10 million reward for the person(s) giving information which can be helpful in recovery of the kidnapped son of the SHC chief justice.

He directed the IG Police to immediately suspend SHO Sharifabad Farooq and DSP Liaquatabad Aminu Rehman from services and issue explanation to SSP Central.

The chief minister also ordered IG to post officers of good repute in place of SSP South Dr Farooq and SP Clifton Amjad Hayat. He directed the IG to intensified patrolling in the entire city, besides ensuring adequate security to the “soft targets”.

Latter, the IG police called on Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and briefed him on both the incidents. He said that his team was working hard to trace the culprits. He said that some suspects have been arrested. CCTV footage is also being collected, he said.

Meanwhile, the chief minister expressed his profound grief and sorrow over the killing of Amjad Sabri. He said that no singer or qawal would be able to fill the vacuum. He prayed Almighty Allah to rest departed soul in the eternal peace and grant courage to the aggrieved family to bear the irreparable loss.
