CDGL lauds modern, vigilant services of Rescue 1122

LAHORE: A three-member delegation of City District Government Lahore (CDGL) on Thursday visited Rescue 1122 headquarters and inspected different functions of Punjab Emergency Service.

The delegation was briefed about different functions of Rescue 1122 through mock exercises of emergency medical treatment, firefighting, rescue from height and using of incident command vehicle. During the visit, they inspected Rescue 1122 Provincial Monitoring Cell, Complaint Cell, Citizens Feedback System, Real Time Emergency Management Monitoring through IP Cameras and other departments as well.

On the occasion, Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Director General Brig Dr Arshad Zia, Planning and Development Deputy Director Faheem Ahmad Qureshi, Emergency Officer (Coordination) Mohsin Durrani and Information Incharge Deeba Shahnaz were also present.

They briefed about the Punjab Emergency Service and its development into the largest emergency humanitarian service of Pakistan from a pilot project from Lahore in 2004.

The DG highlighted that Rescue 1122 has rescued over 4.1 million emergency victims through its emergency ambulance service, fire rescue service, water rescue teams and urban search and rescue teams during the past 12 years. He further said that on the directions of the Punjab chief minister, Urban Search and Rescue Teams (USAR) are being developed in all divisions of the Punjab, which shall be equipped with latest emergency tools and heavy machinery.

During visit of the Provincial Monitoring Cell, the delegation was briefed about different systems of operations, rescue and monitoring through latest technology and software. “This step shall enhance operational capacity of Rescue 1122,” the DG added.

The delegation, comprising Assistant Commissioners Maham Asif, Azubah Azim and Ayesha Ghazanfar, also went on fire and rescue snorkels to observed it practically. They acknowledged the emergency services of Rescue 1122 and appreciated its role in emergency management. “No doubt, Rescue 1122 has proved a public-friendly department of the government through its performance and unique work,” said the delegation members.
