ISLAMABAD: The PPP central leadership has decided to replace AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majid as party president soon after the AJK legislative assembly polls.
Sources told Daily Times that the decision for withdrawing the office of the president of AJK PPP had been taken on the basis of party leaders’ complaints. Three names have been presented to the central leadership of the PPP for the office of the president of AJK PPP. They include senior minister Chaudhry Yasin. AJK President Sardar Yaqub Khan and Sardar Qamarul Zaman.
It is pertinent to mention here that the PPP central leadership had decided to remove Chaudhry Abdul Majid as the party president soon after the PPP lost the election in Mirpur. Chaudhry Abdul Majid had requested the central leadership that replacing the party president before the legislative assembly polls will be harmful to the party, therefore, the decision be postponed till the elections. Frequent visits by Chaudhry Abdul Majid to Zardari House worked well and his plea was accepted.
Sources said that most of the leaders of AJK PPP expressed their mistrust against Chaudhry Abdul Majid and piled up complaints against him with the party’s central leadership before the distribution of tickets for the legislative assembly election demanding that Chaudhry Abdul Majid be removed as party president.
The central leadership has decided to withdraw the party leadership from Chaudhry Abdul Majid soon after the AJK legislative assembly polls and the top slot of the party is likely to go to Chaudhry Yasin. This way Chaudhry Abdul Majid will lose both the top slots of AJK premiership and party leadership.
