ISLAMABAD: The Building Control Section (BCS) of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has issued a notice to the family of Senator Talha Mehmood of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam on violations of the Building Control and Zoning Regulations.

The notice was issued to Miss Maliha bint-e-Talha and Muhammad Qasim bin Talha, the daughter and son of Senator Talha Mehmood under Section 49-C sub clause I of the Capital Development Authority Ordinance 1960 on Friday.

The notice stated that the family of Senator Talha Mehmood was violating the Islamabad Building Regulations 1963 and Islamabad Residential Sector Zoning Regulations 2005 at their premises.

The BCS blamed the senator’s family of committing deviations from the approved plan, the illegal construction of a first floor without formal approval and taking an area more than the permissible limits.

The aforementioned violations are being committed by the senator’s family on their plot number B21/A, P&V Scheme-II located at Chak Shahzad in Islamabad.

The Authority asked the violators to remove all the violations at the site within 15 days, and it further cautioned that if the violations were not removed by the owners of the plot then the Authority will forcefully remove the same through the enforcement directorate by launching an operation at the site.

While talking to Daily Times,an insider of the BCS said; “It is a routine matter that the section issues the notices on building code violations.” He said further; the Authority should remove all the violations across the board without any discrimination of the poor and the elite.

Responding to the issue, the Director BCS has confirmed the issuance of notice and said; “We are taking action according to rules and regulations as we issued a notice to the senator’s family and we will take all possible steps to enforce the Building Control Regulations.”

He added; “Building code violations on a large number of premises have been removed so far and several premises faced an imposition of fine over minor violations by the BCS and it is a continuous process.”

Senator Talha Mehmood was contacted several times for his commens, but he was not able to respond.
