PESHAWAR: The election commission of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Saturday announced that the central executive committee of the party had not approved formation of women wing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). According to the inquiry report, the women wing has no constitutional presence in documentation. Instead, the report suggested the use of the PTI constitution and customs to guide the working of the women wing. “Both Noreen Ibraheem and Naseem Hayat were not elected as KP women wing provincial president in the last intra-party election held in 2013 because the party never conducted election of women wing in intra party election 2013.” Earlier, member of PTI’s KP women wing MPA Zareen Zia, Naseema Hayat, Kulsoom Kundi and others recorded their protest in provincial secretariat against MNA Nafessa Khattak and Noreen Ibraheem for their interference in the affairs of KP women wing. The aforementioned members had demanded the PTI central executive committee to resolve the issue. Following the strife among the KP women wing, PTI Chairman Imran Khan asked PTI election commissioner to submit an inquiry report about the issue to the PTI election commissioner with proper recommendations for future course of action. However, the report says that Naseema Hayat has the liberty to file fresh application before the PTI election commissioner for the redress of her grievances. MPA Zareen Zia told Daily Times that Naseema Hayat was not elected as president of the women wing due to general election in the country and refereed herself as the senior vice president of the Wing. However, she declined to comment on the inquiry report and said the she will comment only after receiving the report from the election commission office. PTI KP election commission has also asked party’s provincial coordinator, Zafarullah Khan, to submit full report over the issue of women wing. A PTI KP secretariat member told Daily Times on anonymity that the members of the women wing remained confused about the inquiry report as the issue of the women wing and legal status of its office bearers was still pending between the provincial and central election commission.
