KARACHI: With the tragic death of renowned qawwal Amjad Sabri and wave of fear among the actors, famous actor Fakhre Alam has resigned from the post of Sindh Board of Film Censorship chairman citing personal reasons. The actor forwarded his resignation to the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah for further action. According to his resignation, he said, “I would like to state that I was appointed on MP 1 status which entitled me to a salary, home allowance, official vehicle etc, however, I did not take any benefit financial and performed my duties voluntarily. I shall not claim any dues from the government of Sindh for my services as Censor Board chairman.” His resignation stated, “I would also like to share that I introduced a new tariff for censor certification resulting in a three fold increase in revenue for the government, at the same time we removed the fees for Pakistani film so that local industries growth can be spurred. Multiple summaries were moved from my office to introduce a new certification system aligned with international standards and a draft of a new motion picture ACT as our current motion picture act is obsolete and irrelevant to new cinema technologies.” “I am sure that the Sindh government will take steps to create a new film policy which will bring revenue for the government and to contribute to the economic activity. I would like to thank the government of Sindh for this opportunity and wish them all the best for serving and facilitating people of Sindh and Pakistan better”, he concluded.
