PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday issued notices to Secretary Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Director Federally Administered Area (FATA) on a petition filed by Advocate Jehanzaib Mehsud on behalf of the Fata ad-hoc lecturers for the extension of regularisation of services and payment of halted salaries.
The two member bench of the PHC comprising Justice Nisar Husain and Justice Wiqar Ahmad was set after hearing the case regarding the KP education Secretary and Director FATA for immediate release of halted salaries to ad-hoc lecturers before the coming Eid. The court also sought a reply from the provincial government regarding the regularisation of the Ad-hoc lecturers serving on deputation in FATA. The 215 male and female lecturers were appointed by Awami National Party (ANP) government in 2011 at various colleges in Fata on deputation basis.
But ANP and PTI could not manage to take steps for the regularisation of the lecturers despite assurance of the PTI in the current budget. The lecturers beside the protest camp for more than 50 days outside the Peshawar Press Club have submitted a petition through Advocate Jehanzaib Mehsud in Peshawar High Court, demanding the release of their frozen salaries. The PHC ordered the payment of halted salaries in response to the petition and sought a reply from the provincial government for the regularisation of the lecturers.
