ISLAMABAD: The re-verification of CNICs campaign commencing from July 01 has brought an ominous message for Pakistani nationals holding fake and dual CNICs and living abroad.
They will remain marooned in the countries they are living now because they will have to face stern legal action and can be arrested if they return to Pakistan for possessing fake and dual CNICs.
In case they stay abroad, their fake and dual CNICs and passports will be blocked by NADRA during the re-verification campaign and this way they will not be able to travel to Pakistan and if they do come they can be arrested at the airport. The fake CNICs will render them alien to their relatives as well as their kith and kin in Pakistan.
Afghan refugees in large numbers have gone abroad on Pakistani CNICs and passports and are now settled there. But their relatives or family members are living in Pakistan. These Afghan nationals cannot return to Pakistan now. On the other hand the KP government has also started evolving a strategy to expel them from the province. In this connection the spokesman of the interior ministry said that the action would be taken at any cost against those Pakistanis who are living abroad and have dual national identity cards or passports as it is a national issue.
He said that concession would be given to them who would surrender thier dual CNICs or passports voluntarily. “It is not possible that the overseas Pakistanis may not have any relatives in Pakistan or they do have any knowledge about the verification process”, he added. The spokesman said that those foreigners who used the cover of Pakistani passports or CNICs would be sent back to their native countries according to the law.
