KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has left to perform Umrah along with his family on Friday but before flying for Saudi Arabia, he held an important meeting at CM House to discuss some important issues such as recovery of Sindh High Court (SHC) chief justice’s son Awais Shah, arrest of Amjad Sabri’s killers and maintain law and order and improve municipal services in city.

The meeting was attended by Sindh Chief Secretary Siddique Memon, IGP AD Khwaja, commissioner of Karachi and other relevant officers.

The Sindh chief minister said that the two serious incidents, the kidnapping of Barrister Awais Shah and killing of Amjad Sabri have become a big challenge for the government. He said, “I don’t have doubt in the performance of our law enforcement agencies (LEA), they are professional and have shown their performance by restoring peace in this city where terrorists, mafias and gangs had started swaying.” He said, “With our political will and commitment almost all the mafias have been wiped out, terrorists are made on their toes.”

The chief minister said the faded glories of this city started restoring as public confidence is again developed in government and LEAs adding that the people who had confined themselves and their families within the four walls of their homes started coming out for recreation, and picnics. He said art and musical activities are thriving. “It was my dream to provide peaceful atmosphere to the people of Karachi which had bleed profusely for long years. Thanks to Almighty Allah and unforgettable sacrificing of our LEAs, my dream came true”, he added.

“All of sudden, the son of SHC chief justice was kidnapped and within next two days, a melodious qawal singer killed in target. All my dreams which had turned into reality shattered and my heart started crying,” CM Qaim Ali Shah said. The power of public mandate and their support has encouraged me and I have full confidence in my forces and shortly both the cases would be resolved”, he added.

He urged the Sindh IGP AD Khwaja to ensure proper security in all the markets, bus stands, railway stations and such other important places and keep close coordination with all the agencies for intelligence sharing. The CM said, “I am sure IGP would give me good news of working out both the cases, Awais Shah and Sabri, in Saudi Arabia where I’ll pray for LEAs and for the people of Sindh and Pakistan.”

The chief minister directed the Sindh Chief Secretary Siddique Memon to keep proper monitoring of cleansing of drains, pumping out of rain water and proper cleanliness work.

He also directed the Commissioner Karachi, Aijaaz Ali Khan, and Administrator Karachi, Laiq Ahmed, to ensure delivery of free water tankers service and also coordinate with K-Electric to have mercy on poor people of this city. He said, “K-Electric has earned a lot of money from this city and if they sustained some minor losses in some slum and poverty-stricken areas of this city, it would not matter for them.” He urged K-Electric to own this city and be ‘friends of Karachiites’ and contribute in the peace efforts of the government.

He extended ‘Jumatul Wida’ greetings to the officers present in the meeting. The participants of the meeting also prayed for him. The chief minister would be back on July 5th.
