The government should address teachers’ problems instead of treating them unfairly and ‘committing human rights violations’, said Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed in Senate on Friday.

He said that more than 250 teachers are protesting on road outside the Parliament House as they are being forced to migrate towards their native towns leaving their families. While declaring teachers as the most disregarded and oppressed community of the society, Mushahid Hussain said that he himself remained a teacher and can better realize that this society doesn’t regard teacher at the extent a teacher should be regarded and respected.

The Senator said the teachers associated in the federal capital educational intuitions are being forced to leave their natives towns along with their families whereas their children are studying in the capital school. In such situation, forcing them to migrate is not only an unfair treatment but human rights violation. He stressed the government to not only address the problems of teachers but ensure implementation of law in true letter and spirit.

It is pertinent to mention here that the federal directorate of education Islamabad while misinterpreting the court decision has decided to send 250 teachers associated with different seminaries of Islamabad to their native villages. The teachers are in protest outside the Parliament House for the past 25 days. Due to the decision, at least five women teachers have lost their lives so far and two are hospitalized due to cardiac arrest.
