PMDC disowns doctor alleging corruption at Poly Clinic

ISLAMABAD: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court (SC) seeking action against Poly Clinic Hospital executive director for his alleged involvement in corruption.

The court has also issued a notice to the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) to file reply in this regard.

However, when the CADD asked the administration the hospital about the matter, they were astonished to know that the petitioner, Dr Umar, who moved the court, did not work in the hospital.

When the CADD asked the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) to tell the whereabouts of the applicant, it said that no doctor under said name was working in the hospital.

When contacted, CADD Secretary Hassan Iqbal said that the applicant gave application in the Supreme Court with the fictitious name as his name was not found in the official record.

He said that the CADD would submit its reply in the court today (Monday) that the application was anonymous which was filed by some bogus person.

Poly Clinic Hospital Executive Director Dr Iftikhar Naro said that although application against him was bogus but he would present himself for the probe in front of the committee constituted by the CADD.

He said that neither his spouse was a doctor nor any corruption was done in Polyclinic since he assumed charge.

It is pertinent to mention here that Dr Amjad Pomi was transferred to PIMS and Dr Iftikhar Naro was posted in his place as executive director last week.

Earlier, it was planned to hold protest against the appointment of Dr Iftikhar Naro, but later the senior doctors refused to join the movement, which was only restricted to young doctors.
