ISLAMABAD: Former president Asif Ali Zardari has expressed grief over the death of over 30 persons and damages to property in flash floods in Chitral. “The havoc caused by floods in Chitral has saddened the nation,” he said in a statement issued by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Secretariat on Monday. He asked the authorities concerned to rush out in providing immediate relief to the victims. Asif Zardari also condoled with the bereaved families over the death of their loved ones and prayed for eternal rest to those who lost their lives in the calamity.
Zardari also directed provincial chapter of the party to reach out to the flood victims and assist them in rehabilitation. Asif Zardari said flash floods, torrential rains, drought and heavy monsoons were the result of global warming and climate change and asked the government to prepare a long term strategy for combating the vagaries of climate change.
