Trump is throwing GOP congressional leaders under the bus

Trump is throwing GOP congressional leaders under the bus, and it’s their worst nightmare.

The latest of these moves involve a demand put forward by the President to increase the stimulus checks to 2000 dollars, instead of 600 dollars, which Democrats have always been on board with, but the GOP, his own party, not so much.

The GOP has long had its interests in different parts of the nation, especially strongholds. In places where they can’t get a grip is often named socialist or something strange like that. In this case, if the Senate Republicans vote to increase checks, and unanimously so, it would be a major blow to most of their mainstream, but leaning right politicians, who arguably have the excuse of wanting Americans to work for the money.

And if they vote against it, it would angry the real mainstream GOP Leaders like the Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell who has urged his colleagues to accept the defeat of the GOP in the Presidential results, acknowledge the President-elect, and stay away from the President and his schemes to overturn election results.

In a statement after surprisingly signing the Covid Relief Act, Trump said, “The Senate will start the process for a vote that increases checks to $2,000, repeals Section 230, and starts an investigation into voter fraud”, leaving open the provision for overturning the election by an investigation or ordering a special council to do it through the Justice department. Though it may seem indifferent, it’s not; Trump is clearly ruining things for everyone on his way out and trying to show a once united country as weak in the eyes of its global adversaries.

Now Trump`s long standoff with section 230 is ridiculous to hear but not impossible. Section 23 protects Internet providers from legal action as content providers do not necessarily stand for the way of the Internet provider`s ideology. Which is true, but given Trump`s disinformation tsunami and the amount of flagged tweets aired on his Twitter page, it’s possible that he could destroy these media giants on the way out. Though, some people or most people actually don’t want that.

Might I also add, the President made it his focus to sum up the blame of the Virus on one sole power in only his first sentence by noting, “As President of the United States it is my responsibility to protect the people of our country from the economic devastation and hardship that was caused by the China Virus.”

At this point of policy, the Trump family and the GOP do part ways. The GOP has always been a proponent of America`s rise but never America’s rise through Global Trade and economic suppression.

Trump also focused on spreading more information, of sorts through this statement, by adding, “Likewise, the House and Senate have agreed to focus strongly on the very substantial voter fraud which took place in the November 3 Presidential election.” We have not seen any congressional leader, look into voter fraud as a matter of fact. Though, many do see the statement as fuel to challenge and provoke Senators to object to the Presidential election results on January 6th, when the votes of the Electoral College are presented before Congress. If any one Senator objects, it would require, just a bit of time or delay for verification but virtually, Trump has zero chances of becoming President till 2024, something he, too needs to understand.

Just to note, no Senator as of now has confirmed the possibility of an objection, nor has any member of the upper chamber helped in any move against section 230. However, incoming Sen. Tommy Tuberville has left open this possibility, though it is still meaningless.

Is it essential for the party to follow their leader, or break with him seeking a wider hold over America and narrowing Democratic Majority by 2022? These unusual times are not only for the Republican Party, but for the Democrats, too. A rare alliance of Democrats and a Republican President is odd but for this specific President, it is what it is.
