Mardan naib nazim issued show case notice

MARDAN: The local government commission on Monday issued a show cause notice to Mardan district nazim and naib nazim for not passing the budget by simple majority and tampering with the attendance sheet by faking signatures of some members, sources said. They added that the commission decided to serve the show cause notice on District Nazim Himayatullah Mayar and Naib Nazim Asad Ali at a meeting.

Under the law, they are required to submit a written reply within seven days to the commission. Action will be taken against the district nazim and naib nazim if they do not submit their reply within the specified period. Three members of the district council, including Salim Khan, Ayesha Bibi and Shama Bibi, said that signatures had been faked.

The sources added that forensic science laboratory had also declared the signatures of the three members as fake.

They said that three other members, namely Ahmad Sultan, Aqeela Begum and Farhat Shamim stated that no show of hands had taken place and they hadn’t voted in favour of the proposed budget. According to the law, it is duty of the assistant director of the Local Government and Rural Development to maintain a proper record of the meeting of the district council.

Sources said that according to the statement of local government assistant director Fazlullah and rural development Mardan the actual numbers of district assembly members were around 37, but the proceeding of the budget session was maintained by naib nazim Asad Ali.
