PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said his government was going all out for good governance as well as changing the old mindset to make public office bearers accountable. This he said while presiding over two different meetings of the select committees on Ehtesab Commission and prevention of conflict of interest in the provincial assembly here on Monday. Provincial Assembly Deputy Speaker Dr. Mehar Taj Roghani, Law Minister Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi, Public Health Engineering Minister Shah Farman, Special Assistant to CM on Information and Public Relations Mushtaq Ghani, MPAs Sardar Hussain Babak and Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha were among the meeting’s participants. The meetings of both committees were held to make final amendments to the rules and regulations as well as the timeframe to make the Ehtesab Commission. The meeting also discussed the regulatory framework and the mode of recruitment. It was decided that the Director General (DG) would have the execution and operational functions and the commission would have to be apolitical in all its procedural and operational functions. The chief minister called upon the participants to remove the lacunas in the procedure and rules and regulations, adding that the age limit for the position of DG should be between 45 and 65 years. However, in the absence of the DG, an officer amongst senior members of the Directorate General would be selected to run the official business. The commission planned to probe cases of corruption up to Rs50 million. The chief minister also formed a special committee comprising Law Minister Imtiaz Shahid and MPA Muhammad Ali Shah to prepare final recommendations within 15 days in this regard.
