ISLAMABAD: The special court on Tuesday issued show-cause notice to the Ministry of Interior for not providing details of assets of former president and army chief Pervez Musharraf in treason case.
A bench of the special court, which was headed by Justice Mian Mazhar Alam Miankhel and comprised Justice Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali, heard the case against the former president.
During the hearing, Justice Miankhel remarked that there was no need of counsel for the defence after the court declared Musharraf an absconder.
Justice Miankhel remarked that the Ministry of Interior is the petitioner, however, no details have been provided in the matter so far.
The court, besides the interior ministry, also issued notice to the Federal Investigation Agency and summoned details of Musharraf’s assets once again.
At this point, Musharraf’s counsel, Ahmed Raza Kasuri observed that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is the petitioner in the case and wants his client to ‘pay’ for sending him out of Pakistan.
The court rejected the interior ministry’s unconditional apology, extended by its legal representatives in the court and adjourned the hearing till July 19.
