Man seeks financial help to cure son suffering from hydrocephalus

PESHAWAR: Syed Hassan, a resident of Gul Abad, Nothia Jadeed, Peshawar, has appealed to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan and other philanthropist to support him in the surgery of his 10-year-old son who is suffering from hydrocephalus (water on the brain).

Talking to this scribe, Syed Hassan said that his son Sajjad fell from stairs, which caused water accumulation inside his brain. When the doctors examined him through Computed Tomography scan (CT scan), they found large amount of water on brain surface which repeatedly regenerating despite of surgery.

He added that after this surgery doctors at Hayatabad Medical Complex suggested to place water discharge pipe below the skin which passing from head through abdominal region into the urinary bladder. Due to his poor financial condition a low quality pipe was fixed in his body for the discharge of water which frequently being blocked due to accumulation of solid waste.

He said that two low quality pipe already removed from his body due to blockade problems and now without high quality water discharge pipe it is impossible to discharge surplus water from his brain.

He informed that due to accumulation of water, his legs go paralysed while his eyesight also affecting for some time resulting his falling on the ground.

He said that now doctors have suggested fixing of another high quality pipe in his body to ensure smooth discharge of water without any blockade. The high quality pipe needs Rs 80,000, which is impossible for him to afford.

He went on to say that he is working in a hotel as cook and he has no financial resources to treat his son Sajjad. He said that he has already conducted three surgeries spending thousands of rupees on his medical treatment and now he is indebted of large number of people demanding their money from him.

The ailing boy told this scribe that he wanted to go to school but he could not, as his poor health condition could not allow him to attend school. He said that he has also problem in his memory as he can speak but could not store other people messages in his mind.

His father appealed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan and other philanthropist to support him financially in the medical treatment of his son.
