ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has decided to highlight Indian brutalities in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOK) on various international forums. Pakistan on Tuesday briefed five permanent members of United Nations Security Council and expressed serious concerns over the tense situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOK). Pakistan said brutal killings of civilians and other heinous violations of fundamental human rights by the Indian Security Forces should be eye openers for the world.
Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry briefed Ambassadors of China, France, Russia, United Kingdom and USA over the tense situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOK). Sources informed Daily Times that the Foreign Secretary told the five permanent members of UN Security Council that it was their responsibility to stop India from gross human rights violation in IOK. “The Kashmir issue is the oldest item on the agenda of the UN,” he added.
Chaudhry expressed Pakistan’s serious concern over the brutal killings of civilians and violations of their other fundamental human rights by the Indian Security Forces. In a statement released by Foreign Office to media regarding the meeting, the Foreign Secretary informed the Ambassadors that due to the excessive use of force against civilians protesting the killing of Burhan Wani, more than 30 innocent people had lost their lives and more than 350 injured so far.
He emphasised the need for India to conduct a fair and transparent inquiry against the individuals responsible for these killings.
The Foreign Secretary urged the international community and particularly the Permanent Members of the Security Council to take notice of the gravity of the situation in IOK and called on India to respect the human rights of the people of IOK and implement UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.
The Foreign Secretary rejected Indian attempts to claim that the deteriorating human rights situation in IOK was an internal affair of India and emphasised the disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir awaiting the implementation of the UNSC resolutions.
