ISLAMABAD: Senator Sehar Kamran, president of Centre for Pakistan and Gulf Studies, on Tuesday expressed grave concern over the joint hearing of US Congress’ subcommittees on Terrorism, Nonproliferation and Trade and Asia and the Pacific in which it called into question Pakistan’s role in war on terror.

She said Pakistan had rendered innumerable sacrifices in the US-led war on terror and was actively collaborating with the US to curb the flow of terrorism and extremism. The senator said, “It was a matter of great concern that one of the subcommittees was being chaired by Congressman, Ted Poe, who was known for his anti-Pakistan rhetoric.” “Also the inclusion of former US ambassador to Afghanistan and United Nations, Zalmay Khalilzad, was one of the three witnesses, who have been asked to explain Pakistan and its policies to the lawmakers was a point of apprehension.
