KARACHI: A team of doctors of Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) is awaiting the medical reports of Shah Gul Mazari, a child with abnormal abdomen from Sindh’s Kashmore district, who is under treatment at provincial capital Karachi.

The patient is under observation, SIUT spokesman told Daily Times adding that after receiving reports further course of action would be decided.

“Computed tomography (CT) scan and other medical tests are undergoing to make detailed pictures of structures inside of the body,” said a spokesman SIUT. “These cross-sectional views and highly detailed images would then be interpreted by doctors,” he added.

However, the nature of ailment could only be determined through final diagnostics reports, he added.

Belly of nine years old boy has swelled up to the size of a beach ball. The disease has caused his stomach to grow rapidly at an abnormal rate.

Mazari was shifted to SIUT on Thursday after an individual taking the news on social media offered financial assistance for the medical treatment of the ailing child. Later on after taking notice of the situation Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also directed concerned authorities to take measures for appropriate treatment of the child.

According to Niaz Mazari, father of Shah Gul, his son is suffering from enlarged abdomen for four years. Initially the boy was treated at his native place and was operated twice. However, his condition could not improve. The father said he did not have resources to shift his son to major cities for better treatment.
