Islamabad schools fail to perform in matric exams

ISLAMABAD: Maryam Nawaz’s generosity to Islamabad educational institutions has failed to deliver as no student from Islamabad’s schools performed up to the mark in the recently announced exams of the Federal Board.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif bestowed the task to his daughter Maryam Nawaz to improve the quality of the capital’s educational institutions but the result announced recently by the Federal Directorate of Education showed no sign of improvement.

Maryam Nawaz, a powerful lady of this regime, allocated huge public funds to the schools and colleges situation in the jurisdiction of the ICT and another cabinet member Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry who hailed from Islamabad constituency also allocated public funds to improve the education facility of Islamabad but all the efforts yielded no positive result. The boys abd girls who excelled in the matric exam held by the Federal Board as the top position holders belong to far flung areas. The senior educationist commented that Maryam’s visions to improve quality education had failed and urged the government to introduce a new vision so that quality education could be given to the capital’s students.

It is worth mentioning here that FDE announced the matric result on Tuesday in which no student from 390 science and arts schools of Islamabad got the top three positions which raises questions about the quality of education in Islamabad model and FG schools.

According to the exam results, army public schools topped in the science group while Fauji Foundation School got the first three positions in the arts group. The GPA of all the private schools remained more than five per cent. On the other hand, no government schools or colleges of the capital succeed to get any position in this result as the failed ratio of Islamabad based students is higher than those hailing from far flung areas.

The sitting government has distributed Rs. 5 billion under the Education Reforms Programme among different schools of the capital and has also given incentives to teachers but they have failed to give better results.
