ISLAMABAD: The elements behind the displaying of coup posters in over 13 cities of the country are moving freely with impunity with no move seen on the part of the government particularly the interior ministry and law enforcement agencies to curb this sinister campaign of inviting the army to take control of the country.

Such banners were put up mysteriously in more than 13 major cities of the country including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Peshawar on July 11 featuring Army Chief Gen Raheel Sharif’s photographs asking him to take over the country.

The banners were displayed by a little known political party “Move on Pakistan”.

The interior ministry and law enforcement agencies are keeping mum over the matter despite the fact that it was openly admitted by the Chairman Move on Pakistan Muhammad Kamran and central chief organiser Ali Hashmi that the banners were displayed by their party.

The question is brewing in the mind of every citizen as to why those behind hanging these banners have not been apprehended so far. Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan is also keeping mum over the issue.

Sources disclosed that Ali Hashmi central chief organiser of Move on Pakistan was a close friend of Rana Sanaullah, Punjab law minister and he was enjoying the full support of Rana Sanaullah in its campaign for displaying banners.

The PTI and the PPP have termed this activity as a conspiracy by the PML-N. They said that the government was using such tactics to avert the Panama leaks issue and to win people’s sympathies.

It is worth mentioning here that the chairman Move on Pakistan Muhammad Kamran and central chief organiser Ali Hashmi hail from the constituency of Rana Sanaullah in Faisalabad and they are stated to be his close aides. Ali Hashmi had put up these banners at the behest of Rana Sanaullah.

Muhammad Kamran while refusing to talk on the subject said that hanging the banners was aimed at expressing love for the Pakistan Army and there was no motive behind the move like inviting the army to take over the country.

The banners were hanged on the main highways of Islamabad which were removed by the CDA overnight. How ironical it is that those behind displaying the banners could not be watched through thousands of cameras installed in connection with the SAF city project.
