ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry on Wednesday briefed ambassadors of member countries of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir (Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Niger) about the prevailing situation in Indian-Occupied Kashmir (IOK) and conveyed Pakistan’s concerns about the brutal killing of innocent civilians and violation of their fundamental rights by the Indian security forces. Appreciating the continued support of the OIC member states to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for realisation of their right to self-determination, the foreign secretary said that Muslims of IOK looked up to their Muslims brothers in these difficult and challenging times. He said that in the spirit of solidarity and brotherhood in the Muslim world OIC member states should raise their voice against the blatant rights violations in IOK. In a related development, the foreign secretary briefed the ambassadors of the European Union about the tense situation in IOK and conveyed Pakistan’s concerns about the indiscriminate use of force by the Indian security forces against innocent civilians in IOK.
