PESHAWAR: A Peshawar High Court bench on Thursday directed Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) to locate a person who has allegedly gone missing from Kohat. The bench directed the family to provide complete phone data to the department. A two judge bench headed by Justice Nisar Hussain was hearing a writ petition filed by Tikka Khan in which he said that his son Kaptan Khan went missing from Multan Road Kohat in 2009.

When the hearing commenced, petitioner’s counsel Amir Yousaf argued that Kaptan would run a restaurant on the road and was picked up by an intelligence agency. He stated that the agency after finding no charges handed Kaptan over to the political administration of the district to check if he was involved in any crime. He said that the administration sent the petitioner’s son to jail from where he was again picked by the Inter Services Intelligence and since then his whereabouts were unknown.

Yousaf stated that Kaptan was alive as he used to contact his family by phone several times. “He phoned his father a month ago,” he said.

The bench after hearing the arguments directed the family to provide phone data to the CTD and ordered it to locate the missing person.

The bench, while hearing the case of another missing person, issued notices to HomeSecretary Khyber Pakthunkhwa and the Ministry of Defense to file replies to a petition filed by Amina Bibi, sister of missing Haroon ur Rashid.

The petitioner contended that her brother went missing from Kalu Khan Swabi, and was picked up by the Pakistan Army. He was detained at an internment center but yet to be declared in any category. The bench issued notices to MoD and Secretary Home KP to file their comments till next hearing.

The additional advocate general said that a list of 123 missing persons has been prepared of which only five were recovered. These included the petitioner’s son Saeedullah, but many were still missing.
