RAWALPINDI: Pakistan and Turkey are likely to sign three important deals in the defence production sector in near future, as both the countries are going to finalise the deal for trainer jet aircrafts, Super Mushshak.

A spokesman of the Ministry for Defence Production Durya Amir said that the deal is in the last stages of finalisation and is going to be signed very soon. “It is a great development on part of the MoDP. Turkey is likely to buy large number of Super Mushshak aircrafts from Pakistan,” he added.

He said that this deal would strengthen ties between the two brotherly countries and would also result in huge foreign exchange revenues for Pakistan. “The deal is a great achievement for Pakistan Aeronautical Complex Kamra.”

Apart from the sale of the Super Mashshak, the development of fleet tanker by KSEW in collaboration with Turkey, is another example of close relationship in the field of defence production between the two countries.

The development of a fleet tanker for the Pakistan Navy in collaboration with Turkey has also been finalised which would be launched in August 2016. Highest dignitaries from both the countries are expected to attend the inauguration ceremony.

The ministry had already signed a contract for midlife up-gradation of the existing Agosta class submarine with a Turkish firm STM Savunma Teknoljileri Muhendislik ve Ticaret. It is an important defence project that will go a long way in enhancing the operational capabilities of the existing submarine of Pakistan Navy, besides further strengthening the defence ties among the two brotherly countries.
