Marvin Vettori notched a unanimous victory over Jack Hermansson on Saturday night in the main event of UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas.

Vettori outpointed Hermansson 49-45, 49-46, 49-46 at the UFC Apex.

“I’m in the mix, too,” Vettori said afterward. “You better put me in the game.”

Vettori stunned Hermansson early with a knockdown in the first round.

Vettori landed 202 total strikes – 164 significant – against 139/122 landed by Hermansson. Vettori ended with 5:47 of control compared to just 28 seconds for Hermansson. Vettori improved to 16-4-1 (6-2-1 UFC) while Hermansson falls to 21-6 (8-4 UFC). Three matches were canceled just hours before the card, two because of COVID-19 issues.

The women’s flyweight battle between Montana De La Rosa vs. Taila Santos, the featherweight fight Movsar Evloev vs. Nate Landwehr, and the men’s flyweight contest between Jimmy Flick vs. Cody Durden were nixed.

The UFC confirmed both the De La Rosa-Santos and Evloev-Landwehr fights were canceled because of positive COVID-19 tests. The Flick-Durden fight wasn’t a casualty of COVID-19, but an unrelated medical issue with Durden, the UFC announced.

In other action, Jamahal Hill recorded a TKO (punches) in his light heavyweight victory over Ovince Saint Preux at 3:37 of the second round.

Hill remained perfect as a pro, improving to 8-0.

“I’m feeling pretty good,” Hill said. “OSP is a legend. He’s been around the sport for a long time. Seasoned vet. He pushed me to a limit that I haven’t been pushed to before. I just keep evolving. I’m going to keep getting better. Everybody talks about my game, keep watching.”

Gabriel Benitez delivered a vicious knee to the solar plexis of Justin Jaynes for a TKO at 4:06 of the first round of their lightweight fight.

Roman Dolidze scored a split decision over John Allan in their light heavyweight fight. Dolidze improved to 8-0 with the 29-28, 30-27, 28-29 decision.

At lightweight, Jordan Leavitt improved to 8-0 with a slam of Matt Wiman just 12 seconds into the first round in his UFC debut. The ref stepped in and called the fight at the 22-second mark.
