Eight gunned down while resisting robberies since January

RAWALPINDI: As many as eight persons lost their lives for putting up resistance in 850 incidents of robbery, banditry and theft reported in 30 police stations of district Rawalpindi during the period of January to June, 2016.

New Town Police Station of Rawal division surpassed all the police stations by registering 139 cases of banditry and thefts of motorcycles and vehicles.

Sadiqabad Police Station stood second with 134 cases of robbery and lifting of cars and motorcycles and Airport Police Station of Pothohar division stood third with 123 cases of banditry and theft.

During these six months, 103 incidents of banditry and robbery took place. Two cases of bank robbery were registered, 19 of house robbery, 162 of motorcycle snatching, 30 of car snatching and 50 cases were registered under Section 382.

Likewise 222 cases of theft, 290 cases of car jacking, 231 cases of motorcycle theft, 90 cases of theft of other vehicles and 21 cases of cattle theft were registered during the first six months in the police stations.

As many as 61 vehicles and 23 motorcycles were stolen in the jurisdiction of New Town Police Station of Rawal division and one person was killed and two were injured for putting up resistance in robbery cases while 55 cases of banditry took place during six months in the area of the said police station.

Forty four vehicles and 30 motorcycles were reported to have been stolen from the jurisdiction of Sadiqabad Police Station while one man was killed and three were injured for putting up resistance during robbery. 60 incidents of theft also took place in the area of the said police station.

In the area of City Police Station, six vehicles and 13 motorcycles were stolen and 10 incidents of theft occurred while one person was injured for resisting bandits in a banditry incident.

In the jurisdiction of Waris Khan Police Station, 19 vehicles and 12 motorcycles were stolen and 22 incidents of theft were reported. One person was killed and one was injured during resistance in a robbery incident.

Thirty three vehicles and eight motor cycles were reported to have been lifted and 58 incidents of theft occurred in the jurisdiction of Airport Police Station of Pothohar division while five persons were injured for putting up resistance against robbers.

In the jurisdiction of Cantt Police Station, 47 cars and eight motorcycles were stolen and 58 incidents of theft took place during the first six months of 2016.

Theft cases of 14 vehicles and 12 motorcycles were registered at the Police Station Westridge while 34 incidents of theft took place therein. 14 vehicles and 12 motorcycles were stolen in the areas under the jurisdiction of Nasirabad Police Station, 29 theft incidents occurred and two persons were shot dead resisting bandits.

In the jurisdiction of Civil Lines Police Station, 11 vehicles and 10 motorcycles were stolen and 31 incidents of theft took place. Six vehicles and 15 motorcycles were stolen in Race Course police area and 36 incidents of theft and burglaries occurred therein.

Nine cars and 13 motorcycles were reported to have been stolen from the area of Police Station Bairooni Sadar and 39 cases of robbery were registered. One person was injured during resistance against the robbers.

In the jurisdiction of Morgah Police Station three vehicles and eight motorcycles were stolen while 23 theft incidents were reported during the six months. One person was gunned down and one was injured while resisting a robbery.

The incidents of robbery and theft which go unreported and the police don’t register cases in respect of these incidents are twofold more than the reported incidents. The police dont even receive applications from the complainants not to speak of the registration of cases.
