LAHORE: Former Punjab governor and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) provincial leader Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has said that the government’s ‘involvement’ in corruption poses a real threat to democracy.
Addressing an event, he said that people would come out on streets against the fraudulent policies of the government as the Pakistan Muslim League-N and its government were two faces of same coin. He said that the government was trying to protect its ‘looted wealth’ but all of the ridiculous stunts will fail.
He said that PTI was standing along the democracy, constitution and law of the nation but Pakistan was facing actual threats by corruption and bad governance. Sarwar lamented that the ‘incompetent’ and ‘illegible’ rulers have delivered nothing since they assumed power in 2013 and only caused ‘frustration’ and ‘worries’ among the public.
He said that PML-N was protecting their individual interests under the cover of democracy and their private interests were more beloved to them as compared to the national interest. “People are ready to come out on streets to ensure the accountability of the corruption of the rulers, for which they are also ready to make sacrifices,” he said.
