Polyclinic in the grip of tussle

ISLAMABAD: After PIMS, the conspiring elements have also made the Polyclinic Hospital their home and have begun planning to remove the executive director of the hospital while trying to bring back their former boss.

Some of the game planners have the support of the Prime Minister’s House while the other group is backed by CADD Ministry. The conflict between two big offices has increased the problems of the patients.

Dr Amjad Pomi was given the charge of ED Polyclinic on April 20 2016, but after 69 days he was transferred to PIMS and Dr Iftikhar Naro became the ED. But Chairman Joint Action Committee, Dr Sartaj, not only refused to obey the orders of CADD but also announced the launching of a protest movement. He commenced a well planed political move to bring back Dr Pomi, on which the JAC was divided into two fragments.

On one hand the Young Doctors Association and all other associations welcomed Dr Iftikhar Naro but on the other side Dr Sartaj got support from some companions of the YDA and continued the series of strikes. He is trying to get the seat of the ED vacayed by hook or by crook.

Dr Iftikhar Naro, after becoming frustrated with the situation has applied for a two-year leave. The mysterious silence of CADD Minister Tariq Fazal is further intensifying the situation.

An Eid Milan Party was arranged for employees of the hospital which changed into a political gathering when both groups came to show their strength. The two sides used awkward language against each other and most of the workers left the venue without taking tea and snacks.
